Chelsea Set to Recall Andrey Santos from Nottingham Forest Loan

Chelsea is poised to recall Andrey Santos from his season-long loan at Nottingham Forest in January, exercising an option to terminate the loan agreement early. The West London club can activate a break clause in the deal with Forest, resulting in mutually agreed-upon financial penalties for the Championship side if Santos is fit but not fielded.

Strasbourg, linked to Chelsea through shared ownership ties, has shown interest in securing Santos for the second half of the season. However, Chelsea would need to terminate one of their existing seven international loans to send the 19-year-old midfielder abroad.

While Forest has not received official notification from Chelsea about Santos’ recall, they acknowledge his limited playing opportunities since joining in August. Santos has only made one Premier League substitute appearance and a 90-minute outing in Forest’s Carabao Cup second-round defeat to Burnley on August 29.

Forest’s head coach, Steve Cooper, has engaged in discussions with Chelsea regarding Santos’ playing time, expressing optimism about the Brazilian midfielder’s chances during the season. Despite this, Santos has been frequently omitted from Forest’s matchday squads and has not featured on the bench since November 5.
