FCT Police Apprehend ‘One Chance’ Robbers Following Theft of N1.2m from Victims


The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully apprehended a group of suspected ‘One Chance’ robbers in Abuja after they allegedly stole over N1.2 million from victims. Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba, disclosed the arrest of 11 individuals involved in ‘One Chance’ robberies during a press briefing in Abuja.

Explaining the modus operandi of the criminals, CP Garba highlighted an incident involving victims Bright Ezekiel and Rose Augustine, who were robbed of N482,000.00 and N387,500.00, respectively, after boarding a vehicle from Mogadishu Cantonment to Kubwa. Upon receiving the report, police operatives from Asokoro Division, in collaboration with the Nigeria Army Intelligence Unit, swiftly arrested the suspects, including Ogbonna Nwovu, Ndugo Ikechukwu, Amaechi Emezi, Felicia Udoh, and Adekunle Tayo. The operational vehicle, a blue V/Wagon taxi, was also recovered. The suspects confessed to the crime and will face legal proceedings.

Additionally, CP Garba reported the arrest of Ibraheem Idris, a commercial motorcyclist (Okada Rider) acting as an informant and logistics supplier to notorious and wanted bandit leaders—Jalel, Ja’e, Yakubu, and Umar. The suspect is cooperating with the police to apprehend other gang members, and exhibits recovered include a Bajaj motorcycle and a bag containing illicit drugs.
