Governor Adeleke Greenlights Monthly Palliatives

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun has taken proactive measures to alleviate the repercussions of the subsidy removal by approving a substantial relief initiative for the state’s civil servants and pensioners. A circular issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Capacity Building announced a monthly wage award aimed at mitigating the effects of the subsidy removal.

The circular, signed by Permanent Secretary Sunday Olugbenga Fadele, outlines that active workers will receive a monthly award of N15,000, while pensioners will benefit from a monthly support of N10,000. Governor Adeleke emphasized that this initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to prioritizing workers’ welfare and marks the commencement of a series of palliative measures to address challenges arising from the subsidy removal.

The wage award initiative is set to span six months, beginning in December, with the expectation of alleviating immediate financial strains resulting from the policy change. In a statement, the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, acknowledged the understanding and support of Osun state workers and pensioners, reaffirming the administration’s unwavering dedication to ensuring workers’ welfare remains a top priority.

This strategic move is anticipated to provide immediate relief, fostering increased dedication and commitment among state workers and reinforcing the positive relationship between the government and its employees.
