Governor Sani Applauds Appellate Court Ruling Upholding His Triumph

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has expressed satisfaction with the recent Court of Appeal decision affirming his victory in the March 18 governorship elections. The governor, in a statement released by his spokesperson, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, hailed the verdict as a validation of the people’s will. The legal journey began when the Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mohammed Ashiru, in September.

Unhappy with the tribunal’s ruling, the PDP and Ashiru sought a reversal through an appeal to the Court of Appeal. However, a three-member panel of justices unanimously dismissed the appeal, solidifying Governor Sani’s triumph. The governor commended the strength of the legal institutions, describing the ruling as a victory for democracy.

Governor Sani, expressing confidence in the judicial process, called for unity and emphasized the need to focus on the significant tasks ahead. He acknowledged the support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) family and the people of Kaduna throughout the process. Urging opposition members to accept the verdict in good faith, he emphasized the importance of coming together for the progress of the state.

In addition, Governor Sani pledged to maintain open communication with all stakeholders, emphasizing an open-door policy for citizens with well-meaning contributions. The governor concluded by expressing gratitude for the diligence of the Elections Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, highlighting the need to move forward peacefully and work diligently for the benefit of the people of Kaduna.
