Governor Sani Commends Appeal Court Verdict Upholding Election Triumph

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, expressed satisfaction and gratitude following the Court of Appeal’s affirmation of his victory in the March 18 governorship elections. In a statement released by his spokesperson, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, on Friday, the governor hailed the court’s decision as a validation of the people’s will.

The legal journey began when the Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Mohammed Ashiru, in September. Unhappy with the tribunal’s ruling, the PDP and Ashiru took the matter to the Appeal Court, seeking a reversal of the decision. However, a three-member panel of justices unanimously dismissed the appeal on Friday.

Governor Uba Sani viewed the verdict as a testament to the strength of the legal institutions, a triumph for democracy, and a validation of the people’s choice. He expressed joy and gratitude, extending a hand of fellowship to all opposing sides to collectively move Kaduna state forward in line with the #SUSTAINKaduna agenda.

Acknowledging the diligence and thoroughness of the Kaduna State Elections Petition Tribunal and the Appeal Court, Governor Sani confidently embraced the judicial process. He urged those in opposition to accept the verdict graciously, emphasizing the need for unity to address the significant tasks ahead.

The governor thanked the All Progressives Congress family and the people of Kaduna for their unwavering support throughout the legal process. Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, the Deputy Governor, and Governor Uba Sani pledged to work diligently for the people of Kaduna without distractions. The governor emphasized the importance of coming together to move the state forward and called for unity among stakeholders. He committed to sustaining dialogue with all parties and maintaining an open-door policy for citizens with constructive contributions.
