Ijumu Local Government Chairman Responds Only Auctioned Dilapidated and Outdated Properties

Ijumu Local Government Area Chairman, Taufiq Isah, has responded to allegations of selling over 20 properties, asserting that the properties auctioned were indeed moribund and obsolete. The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Executive Chairman, Othman Hamidu, defended the auction, stating that a professional and reputable auctioneer was engaged, adhering to best practices for government obsolete properties.

Hamidu emphasized that selling assets that had become non-functional over the years was a common practice to optimize local government resources. He urged those making allegations to report to law enforcement agencies with evidence for a proper investigation rather than resorting to misinformation on social media.

Highlighting the Chairman’s contributions, Hamidu noted the commitment to rural road development, security, infrastructure, and basic health facilities during his seven years in office, resulting in numerous national awards. He dismissed the accusations as an attempt to malign and create confusion among stakeholders.

Hamidu further referenced previous unfounded allegations before the governorship election, suggesting a pattern of baseless claims against the Chairman. He emphasized the need for evidence and proper channels for accusations rather than relying on unverified social media posts.
