Military Synergizes Air and Ground Forces in Counter-Terrorism Operations

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, unveiled a groundbreaking military strategy during the conclusion of the Nigerian military’s “Mugun Bugu 2023” training exercise in Kontagora, Niger State. This innovative approach focuses on seamlessly integrating air power with ground troops to effectively address the prevailing insecurity in the country.

Emphasizing the importance of synergy among security organizations in combating terrorism, General Musa highlighted the significance of sustainable joint training for the Nigerian military. The exercise specifically aimed at honing the skills of personnel in diverse arms maneuvers within a joint environment.

Major General Jal Jimoh, representing the CDS, affirmed the integration of the Nigerian Air Force into the strategy, enhancing air power and support for ground troops to achieve their objectives. General Musa commended the Armed Forces for their patriotism, commitment, and resilience, pledging total loyalty to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, stressed the necessity of joint training exercises in complex operations to enhance combat efficiency while addressing regional security challenges. Major General S.G. Mohammed, representing the COAS, urged trainees to leverage acquired knowledge for fulfilling their constitutional mandate and serving Nigeria effectively.

Expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly for their support, General Musa affirmed the military’s dedication to reviewing operations and training designs during the annual conference. Lagbaja highlighted that Mugun Bugu exercise 2023 showcased a genuine commitment to producing highly versatile and intellectually sound military professionals in the country.
