Nigerian Navy Chief Ensures Secure Waters for Domestic and International Trade

On Tuesday, the Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, conducted an operational visit to the Theatre Command, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Maiduguri. Accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mattawalle, and top military officials, the visit aimed to assess the security situation in the region. The delegation, assigned by President Bola Tinubu, engaged in frank discussions with Governor Babagana Zulum, addressing progress, challenges, and strategies in both frontline and urban areas.

Minister Abubakar reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to supporting the military and security agencies to end insurgency and restore peace, facilitating the sustainable resettlement of displaced persons. The delegation expressed determination to end insecurity, emphasizing the collaborative efforts and dedication of the military leadership. The Minister praised Governor Zulum for his support and courage in bolstering the morale of personnel on the frontline.

Governor Zulum acknowledged the improved security situation in the state due to successful military operations, cautioning against sensational security reportage that could embolden insurgents. He emphasized the significance of continued and sustained military operations to eradicate the remnants of terrorists. Zulum highlighted the surrender of approximately 160,000 insurgent fighters and their family members, seeking military support for manpower development to address transborder arms proliferation and ensure the stability of the region with porous borders.
