NNPP Supporters Protest Appeal Court Verdict at ECOWAS, EU in Abuja

The NNPP, dissatisfied with the nullification of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s victory by the Kano Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, has petitioned ECOWAS, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Led by Acting Chairman Abba Kawu Ali, NNPP supporters protested at various embassies in Abuja, alleging clerical errors in the Court of Appeal’s ruling and seeking international intervention. Ali emphasized the importance of the judiciary, especially the Supreme Court, in upholding its duties and raised concerns about the alleged disparity between the election outcome and subsequent legal decisions. He urged Vice President Kashim Shettima and Northern governing bodies to intervene to prevent escalating tensions in Kano State. The move by NNPP reflects a resistance against perceived electoral irregularities and legal rulings that nullified their electoral gains, seeking international attention and potential intervention to address the situation in Kano State. ECOWAS Head of Administration William Towah assured a thorough examination of the matter.
