Oba of Benin Meets with Governor Sanwo-Olu

In a significant declaration, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, asserted on Sunday that the presidency of Nigeria has been divinely ordained for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. The Oba urged all Nigerians to rally behind Tinubu and support his administration for the realization of a prosperous Nigeria.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina, Oba Ewuare II emphasized the divine orchestration behind Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election, deeming it as a manifestation of God’s will for him to lead the nation. The monarch called for unity and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, stressing the importance of embracing diversity for sustainable development in all sectors of the country’s economy.

“We are all one. I am for peace and tranquility. We must live together as one. Nigeria is big. We must iron out our differences and learn to live together as one, big family,” stated Oba Ewuare II, underscoring the imperative of harmony for national progress.

In addition to congratulating Governor Sanwo-Olu on his re-election, the Oba commended the Governor’s notable achievements in Lagos and encouraged him to strive for even greater heights in his second term. Following the courtesy visit, the monarch, accompanied by Governor Sanwo-Olu and other cabinet members, visited the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, where he applauded the Governor’s dedication to the preservation and promotion of culture and tradition.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reciprocated the praise, assuring that Lagos State would remain inclusive, embracing individuals regardless of their ethnic, religious, or political affiliations. He conveyed the regards of President Bola Tinubu to the Oba and called for the continued support of the traditional ruler for the Federal Government to ensure the populace experiences the tangible benefits of democracy.

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism about the nation’s economic progress, citing a rise in the GDP during the third quarter of the year. He pledged the government’s commitment to delivering genuine dividends of democracy, reducing poverty, and fostering socio-economic development in the country.
