Potential Crisis Subsides as Individuals Invade INEC Office in Lokoja

Security Forces Prevent Violence as Political Party Supporters Storm INEC Headquarters in Kogi State

In Lokoja, Kogi State, chaos loomed as supporters of a political party converged at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters on Wednesday morning. The gathering was in response to the Election Petition Tribunal’s directive for parties to inspect election materials.

Tensions escalated when certain supporters aimed to disrupt the process, chanting aggressive slogans and threatening to set fire to the INEC office, vowing to destabilize the state.

Fuelled by substances, these individuals vehemently opposed the movement of election materials to the tribunal, alleging bias in favor of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Swift intervention by security agencies, notably the Nigeria Police Force, was crucial in quelling the turmoil. Earlier, the group had obstructed access points leading to the INEC office, which were subsequently cleared by armed security personnel.
