Tragic Incident Traditional Ruler Abducted and Killed by Gunmen in Nigeria's South-east

Gunmen have tragically killed the traditional ruler of Otulu Community in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, located in Nigeria’s South-east. Joe Ochulor, the victim, was kidnapped from his palace by the assailants on Saturday morning, with reports later confirming the discovery of his lifeless body on the roadside in Mbutu, a community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area.

Expressing the prevailing fear in the region, an unnamed source revealed, “There is fear everywhere. Villagers are afraid because the traditional ruler was taken from his home on Saturday morning only for his body to be found on the same Saturday. This is horrifying.”

The Imo State Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, an assistant superintendent of police, has officially confirmed the killing of the traditional ruler. Mr. Okoye assured that the police would tirelessly track down the perpetrators. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Aboki Danjuma, has declared a manhunt for the killers.

Imo State, like other states in Nigeria’s South-east, has witnessed a deteriorating security situation characterized by frequent attacks by armed individuals. These attacks often target security agencies, government officials, and facilities. The recent incident occurred just 48 hours after gunmen killed Chiedoziem Anyanwu, a ward chairperson of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
