APC Secures Victory in All Chairmanship Positions in Ekiti Local Council Elections

In the recent council elections in Ekiti, candidates affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious, securing all 38 chairmanship positions and 177 councillorship seats. The Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC) officially announced these results at their headquarters in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday. During the declaration, Returning Officers from various local government areas and local council development areas took turns presenting the outcomes.

Retired Justice Cornelius Akintayo, the Chairman of EKSIEC, expressed appreciation for the electorate’s peaceful conduct during the election. He commended participating political parties for their sportsmanship, as well as EKSIEC staff, security agents, and the media for their commendable efforts. Akintayo acknowledged the presence of multiple political parties in the election, including the Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Congress (ADC), African Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

EKSIEC commissioners and principal officers joined Akintayo during the presentation of the election results. Notably, prominent opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) had earlier declared their lack of interest in participating in the council elections, setting the stage for the APC’s sweeping success in the polls.
