Dapo Abiodun Anticipates Ogun's Imminent Inclusion Among Oil-Producing States

Ogun State is poised to become a significant player in Nigeria’s oil industry, according to Prince Dapo Abiodun, the Executive Governor of the state. During the presentation of the 2024 Appropriation Bill, named the Budget of Sustained Growth and Development, at the Ogun State House of Assembly, he announced the imminent transition of the state into an oil-producing entity. It was reported that the state is set to receive frontier status, elevating it to the ranks of established oil-producing states in the country.

To facilitate this transformation, Governor Abiodun disclosed the establishment of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, tasked with the oversight and management of all natural resources within the state. Furthermore, recognizing an opportunity provided by a constitutional amendment, the state has also instituted the Ministry of Energy to actively engage in the energy sector.

Governor Abiodun disclosed ongoing discussions about oil exploration in Tongeji Island, Ipokia Local Government Area, and Olokola, in Ogun Water-Side Local Government Area. Expressing confidence in securing frontier status soon, he envisions Ogun State seamlessly joining the league of oil-producing states in the near future.
