Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano, Faces United Nations Scrutiny Amidst Unrest

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kano state, operating under the banner of APC Youth Business Community in Kano (APC-YBCK), took their grievances to the United Nations on Friday, protesting against the state governor, Abba Yusuf, over alleged unrest. The group, led by Alhaji Umar Ladiyo, staged a demonstration at the United Nations House in Abuja, urging intervention in the face of what they claimed was the Kano state government’s unauthorized demolition of properties worth billions of Naira. The group argued that this action adversely affected businesses and livelihoods, necessitating a UN investigation.

APC-YBCK appealed to the international community for sanctions against the Kano state government and its supporters, alleging threats to the judiciary. They emphasized the importance of allowing the Nigerian judiciary to decide cases independently. The group presented a petition asserting that since the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) assumed power in Kano state, the local business community has faced significant challenges. Alhaji Ladiyo reiterated the APC’s commitment to the rule of law, expressing a willingness to accept any outcome from the Supreme Court, while urging the NNPP government to prioritize the state’s interests over other considerations.
