ISWAP Terrorists in Borno Killed by Nemesis with IED

Four members of the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) were killed by their own Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near San-San village in Borno State. The incident occurred as they were planting the bomb along the route of the 5 Brigade troops. The explosion resulted in the terrorists’ bodies being shattered into pieces. Additionally, troops from the MNJTF Sector 4 found another IED near Chetimari village, which was planted by the terrorists after attempting to lure the troops into a trap by opening fire in Chetimari at night. Despite battlefield defeats, ISWAP has intensified the use of IEDs as a counter-offensive against the troops, deploying various types, including person-borne IEDs (PBIEDs) and vehicle-borne IEDs (VBIEDs), in defensive positions and for ambushes. The tactical use of IEDs is expected to continue as Boko Haram becomes less capable of mounting major combat operations in certain sectors.
