MC Oluomo Secures Unopposed Re-Election as Chairman of Lagos Road Transport Workers Union

MC Oluomo, also known as Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, has clinched another term as the Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), securing his re-election along with other executives during the 10th Quadrennial State Delegates Conference held in Lagos. Alhaji Sulyman Ojora and Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle (Sego) were elected Deputy Chairman and Treasurer, respectively, alongside 28 executive members, all unopposed.

The legal ceremony formalizing their assumption of office was officiated by Mr. Adejare Kembi. Akinsanya expressed gratitude, acknowledging the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the national leadership of the union. He pledged to continue implementing reforms within the NURTW to improve its operations.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, represented by Ministry of Transportation Director Lateef Tiamiyu, commended the union for embracing a peaceful electoral process. He emphasized the positive shift from past instances marked by violence during NURTW leadership changes, stating, “Gone were the days when NURTW members took to violence to effect leadership change.” The peaceful re-election signifies a departure from historical turbulence, reflecting a commitment to a more stable and constructive leadership transition within the NURTW.
