Super Eagles Star's Transfer Stand Revealed by Trabzonspor President

Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan is actively working to bring back Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme to the club, as reported by Nwakaeme departed Trabzonspor in the summer of 2022 after a four-year tenure, leading to family disputes over his decision. Despite his departure, the 34-year-old’s impact during his stint included victories in the Turkish Cup, Super Cup, and Super Lig after nearly four decades.

The club and player couldn’t reach a contract extension, resulting in Nwakaeme joining Saudi’s Al Fayha on a free transfer in August 2022. However, Trabzonspor remains eager to welcome him back, and President Doğan confirmed ongoing efforts to secure his return, with discussions suggesting a possible comeback as early as January.

While Nwakaeme desires a reunion, President Doğan emphasized that any agreement would exclude a transfer fee. Nwakaeme’s contract with Al-Fayha concludes in June, offering Trabzonspor an opportunity to acquire him without a transfer fee. President Doğan mentioned, “He also wants to come; we will see.” Despite Nwakaeme’s current impactful role at Al-Fayha, contributing six goals in 16 appearances, the prospect of a return to Trabzonspor appears promising.
